One thorn of experience
"One thorn of experience is worth a whole wilderness of warning"
- James Russell Lowell
I came across this on my tea-bag today and it could not of been more appropriate. The more I think about this quote the more it makes me think about my relationship to the natural world and why my work is different for myself. I can can not seem to fix on one particular approach. Where it be sculpture or performance or images or writing, neither on their own I find it strong enough to convey one particular emotional response. The thing is the conflict between humans and nature, can not be limited to one word, but a series of emotional responce. There is not one singular thron to warn us of our trials, but a forest full of torns before we get the message.
