Historic findings

I've been doing research on how the land was treated historically from the founding (upper and lower Canada). Land at the time was quite cheap even for those times at ten dollars for 61 hectares. At this time the job of the farmer was to clear and cultivate the land, and this was and is no simple task. It would take a farmer and entire lifetime to meet the requirements. Today is a whole other story, where land is flipped and built in less the five years. The turnaround from one site to another is quick and so is the means of dispersal. Where we are lacking to maintain the land between these gaps, this is where some plants therive. Land has become a series of patches, fragmented and weak from one patch to another.
